Youth Homelessness Matters Day 2025

How we help young people go from surviving to thriving—and why youth homelessness matters today and every day
Youth homelessness isn’t just a statistic—it’s a lived experience for more than 28,000 young Australians on any given night. And behind every number is a name. A story. A future at stake.
At St John’s Youth Services, we don’t just provide a place to sleep. We walk beside young people on their journey from crisis to confidence. From surviving to thriving.
One young person shared their journey this Youth Homelessness Matters Day:
“When I arrived at Youth 110, I was coming from a place of instability and fear. I didn’t have a safe or consistent place to stay, and I felt stuck in survival mode. The staff didn’t just give me a roof—they gave me hope.”
At Youth 110, they found more than a bed. They found respect, compassion, and a team that helped them imagine a future again. And when they were ready, they transitioned to Foyer Port Adelaide, where independence met support.
“Foyer isn’t just a block of apartments—it’s a community. They helped me access education, get my birth certificate, and find work. That piece of paper—my ID—meant I could finally start building my life.”
Now employed, confident, and connected to a strong support network, they’re no longer just surviving. They’re planning their future—and believing in it.
“The most powerful thing? They believed in me before I believed in myself.”
This story isn’t just heartwarming—it’s proof that early intervention works. That housing with wraparound support works. And that donors and advocates like you are helping change lives in ways you may never fully see.
So today, on Youth Homelessness Matters Day, we ask you to stand with us.
